Kraslava Palace was built in 1759 by Count Konstantin Ludwig Plater of Kraslava for his son Theophilus, who later lived on the first floor of the building. The upper floors were occupied by the library. The building was designed by Genoa architect Antonio Ludovico Parocco in collaboration with Jan Valentin Didreishten, architect of the Kraslava Town Hall. Kraslava Palace was owned by the Plater family until the First World War. The library had a collection of about 20,000 volumes, various atlases and manuscripts.
